DogOwner Says:
Losing your dog can be one of the most heartbreaking experiences of dog ownership (trust me, I've been there), but there are few simple steps that you can take to, hopefully, ensure a happy reunion should your dog ever get lost or stolen.
Dogs must, by law, wear tags when they are out in public spaces, this will ensure that your dog can be easily returned to you if it gets lost.
The majority of vets now offer a dog registration scheme whereby your dog can be tattooed, tagged or micro-chipped with a number, against which the owner's details are recorded on a large database. This is useful when identifying lost or stray dogs.
Contact your local council, dog shelters, vets and police. Someone may have handed in your dog to anyone of these establishments.
